Ep 7: Choosing a Trauma Healer: Why the Most Important Credential Your Trauma Healer Can Have Has Nothing to Do with a Certification

Air Date: March 9, 2026

I watched a reel from a trauma healer recently, and within a few seconds my body had a very clear response.

He was speaking so quickly that my brain could not process what he was saying, and I found myself thinking that this is someone who is positioning himself as a guide for nervous system regulation, while his own system is visibly dysregulated.

It was not subtle, and it raised a question that I think more women need to be asking.

How many of the people we are trusting in this space have actually done the work they are guiding others through?

This is not an isolated experience.

It is something I see across the industry, where people are certified and credentialed, but not actually able to hold the depth, pace, and reality of what trauma work requires.

There is a difference between understanding something intellectually and being able to stay regulated and present when someone else’s nervous system is activated.

You cannot lead someone somewhere you have never been.

In this episode, I walk through what actually makes a trauma practitioner effective, the red flags that can help you recognize when someone is not equipped to support you before you give them your story or your money, and the questions that allow you to make a grounded decision about who you work with.

I also share Kate’s story, a 32-year-old mother of two who spent years moving through therapy, EMDR, psychedelics, and multiple practitioners who could not fully meet her, and what shifted when she finally worked with someone who could hold the full weight of her experience.

Your healing is too important to place in the hands of someone who has only learned about it from a distance.

If you are the one who shows up for everyone else, the one who holds everything together while quietly running out of yourself to give, and the one nobody checks on, then you already understand what it costs to stay in spaces that cannot truly support you.

This conversation is an invitation to approach your healing with a higher level of discernment.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

✅ How to recognize when a practitioner’s nervous system is not regulated, regardless of how they present themselves

✅ The difference between intellectual understanding and the ability to stay present with real activation

✅ The red flags that indicate someone may not be able to support the depth of your experience

✅ The questions to ask before working with anyone so you can make a clear and grounded decision

✅ Why many women remain in ineffective healing spaces longer than they should and what keeps that pattern in place

✅ What changes when your nervous system is finally met by someone who has done their own work

✅ What it feels like to experience real safety instead of continuing to search for it

This is how we begin to choose support that actually meets us, instead of continuing to adapt to what is not working.
